Absorption

By phagocytosis. Complete mass absorption in approximately 63 days. Approximately 50% of tensile strength remains after 7 days. When used infected tissue whit increased tissue or in tissues whit increased levels of proteolytic enzymes (stomach, cervix, and vagina) it is more quickly absorbed.

Description
Teb keyhan Plain Catgut is a biologic absorbable suture obtained from sheep gut submucosa. its absorbed by the enzymatic reaction (phagocytosis). Its tension strength is kept for 7 to 14 days, while the absorption is approximately in 63 days. This suture is sterilized by gamma radiation and is available in straw color. Available sizes are presented in the attached table.

-Being absorbable not to use in extended tissue approximation
-In patients sensible to collagen
- In the region of infected wounds
-Known sensitivities or allergies to collagen
-Caution in patient with delayed wound healing (e.g. compromised immunity system)
Packaging
Teb Keyhan Plain Catgut is packed as follow:
Single-needled gauge sizes 6/0 to 2 (U.S.P) with a suture length of 75 cm are packed in boxes containing 24 sachets of sterilized ready-to-use suture.
Expiration
Teb Keyhan Plain Catgut sutures are usable for up 5 years from their manufacturing date.
